Can I arrive late?
Yes. If you arrive on Friday, you must get to Opossum Creek by 10:00pm unless you make special arrangements with us. If you arrive on Saturday, you must be at Opossum Creek no later than 6:30am.

How hilly is the course?
The race does take place in West Virginia - the Mountain State. With that said, a good bit of the course is flat to rolling hills. There are a few good climbs each day to get out of the Gorge and to get up to where the cabins are. We'll be posting course maps and a course profile closer to the event.

Can I bring a friend/guest?
Of course! Guests are welcome and can stay with us and eat with us. The guest fee is $250 per guest. They can register using this form. We will bring the to/from the starting and finish lines every day if they like as well.

What is there for my friend/guest to do?
In addition to seeing the starts and finishes of the race, there are many hiking trails near Opossum Creek. There is also a zip line canopy tour right up the road. We are trying to organize a group rate for all racers and guests. There is also a large climbing area and of course, the New River - great for rafting, swimming, fishing, or just hanging out near it.

Can I just run for one of the two days?
If we fill up, then racers will be allowed to enter the race for just one of the two days, but you will not be counted in the overall standings. Please email us if you are considering this option and we'll contact you if/when we fill up.

Is there a relay/team option?
There is no official relay or team category. However, if two people each want to do half of the course each day, we can work something out. Please email us if you are considering this option.

Will I have access to a bathroom/shower if I camp?
Yes. There will be showers and bathrooms (as well as a hot tub) available for campers.
Can I not buy the meals and cook in the cabins?
No. You have to buy the meal plan. It's a package deal.

Where did the watercolors of the Gorge come from?
The water colors were all painted by Jeanne Brenneman from Lewisburg, WV. You can get copies of your very own at her online store.

Can I bring my pet along with me?
Sorry. We prefer that you leave Fido at home.

Is alcohol allowed in/around the cabins?
Absolutely! We will have wine available with dinner and there will be some beer in the common fridge, but you may want to bring a bit of your own.
What is the cancellation policy?
Planning and implementing a two day event takes a fair amount of time and money. And many of the vendors require substantial upfront payments. Therefore, I cannot offer refunds after August 1st. Prior to that, I can give partial refunds: all but $45 to cover my entry processing expenses. Of course, you are free to sell your entry to another runner.
Can I drop items at the start or aid stations?
Absolutely! We have a box at the start for fleeces or coats and you can leave bags in the aid station boxes, to be picked up as you run through if you like.
Is there a time limit to finish?
There are no official cut-offs for either day. However, lunch on Saturday goes until about 2:30pm, so you'd need to finish in 6.5 hours or less to make it. The Saturday course can almost be walked in that amount of time.
